Municipality of Bucharest
Bucharest is situated on the banks of the Dâmboviţa River, which flows into the Argeş River, a tributary of the Danube. As with many cities, Bucharest is traditionally considered to have seven hills, similar to the Seven Hills of Rome. Bucharest has a unique status in Romanian administration, since it is the only municipality that is not part of a county. Its population, however, is larger than that of any Romanian county, and hence the power of the Bucharest General City Hall, which is the city's local government body, is about the same as, if not greater than, that of Romanian county councils.

Dolen Cymru
We help to create lasting, positive change in the southern African Kingdom of Lesotho – and in communities here at home in Wales. How do we do it? Link by link. We introduce professionals from schools, hospitals and other organisations who share ideas and approaches. So one teacher learns a new technique from another – and she then goes and teaches that technique to her colleagues, who go on to show others how to do it too? Because they collaborate, schools improve, communities improve and whole districts improve. Kids grow up empowered, with their own ideas to share. Our UK office is in Cardiff but we work with communities and professionals across the whole of Wales.

More about the project:
Outputs
1. Innovative tools and approaches on development topics in formal education available and integrated in school curricula;
2. Increased awareness of students and pupils on SDGs 11, 13, 16 and on global interdependencies between the European Union and developing countries as well as their capacity to play a role and accomplish their responsibilities towards a transformational society;
3. Enhanced capacities and engagement of local authorities in development education and awareness raising on their own sub-national levels
Methodology
Cross-country collaboration and Participatory approach:
Walk the Global Walk enhance cooperation among European countries and enlarge a favorable environment for raising awareness on the sustainable development and it does it by involving partners in design of the activities in order to guarantee their sustainability in national contexts.
Learner-centered methodology and Peer to Peer approach
Learners are included in a process in order to nurture a deep learning and understanding about SDG and human rights’ issues, to consider and evaluate what they have learnt and to subsequently, take action.
Young leaders shall become trainers and will be asked to unlock the potential of their peers to become actors of development.
Empowerment of teachers:
Walk the Global Walk project provides teachers with necessary tools to embed global citizenship education within a school curriculum and in this way, offer a different prospective and of the school to pupil, increasingly disoriented by distances that separate school from global challenges they face in everyday life.
Use of new technologies:
The development and use of the online interactive platform as main “hub” for all the activities of the project will foster interaction between students, educators and teachers in and among different countries making them feel part of a larger and global community.
More about the project:
Project aim
Walk the Global Walk strives to enhance European partnerships between local authorities and communities by creating a common educational framework within the formal education system that can support and promote awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Objectives
To open up the space where young people can engage in issues related to global citizenship and sustainable development. To promote a culture of peace, respect for human rights and co-responsibility on a global scale.
More about the project:
Walk the Global Walk, through Global Citizenship Education (GCE), mobilizes young people as catalysts for transformational change, localizes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and produces an innovative educational model addressing complexities of the current global agenda. The transferrable and pioneering model, capable of integrating a new understanding of global issues related to migration, climate change and gender equality, will be adapted to the formal education curricula of secondary schools.
Promoted by Tuscany Region and Oxfam Italia Intercultura, and co-funded by the European Union, the Walk the Global Walk project, connects local authorities, and regional and local communities (school communities and civil society organisations) from 11 European countries: Italy, France, Croatia, Cyprus, UK (Wales and Scotland), Portugal, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Albania. Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG11), Climate Action (SDG 13), Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16) are the three SDGs to be addressed over the course of this project as they were considered burning issues relevant to young people but ones with which they were not well-acquainted.
